The F-16 Fighting Falcon is the most widely produced western fighter jet since its introduction in 1976. It was originally developed by General Dynamics, but later sold its manufacturing to Lockheed Corp. in 1993. It is also used by 25 other nations as part of their Air Force programs.
The f-16 is a dogfighter with amazing maneuverability and control, and has the easily recognizable bubble canopy for better visibility. There are many variations of the F-16 for the many different uses and nations that operate it. The US will continue to use the F-16 until the year 2025, when the F-35 Lightning II will replace it fully.
The popularity, function, and control of the F-16 Fighting Falcon has caused it to be a popular EDF R/C Jet as well. These R/C Jets handle very well and can perform a lot of the same dogfighting maneuvers as the real thing. The coolest part about these EDFs is the customization possibilities. I always like to see the different paint schemes and decals that everyone applies to their EDFs. There are so many options out there, because of the many models out there.
